Belinda e-mailed asking about the new house? Great except . . .
I honestly thought I would have unpacked the last of the boxes.
I've stashed them away in two closets.
I feel like such a lazy jerk for not unpacking everything.
Duel in the Sun? Cedric and I watched that Sunday.
That film was so ripe it smelled like it needed to be picked before it went bad.
Jennifer Jones and Joseph Cotton were fine in the film. But Gregory Peck? I just have never been able to stand him. He's always so stiff and so wooden. Burt Lancaster? I would've been swept up in the drama.
At the very end, lovers Jones and Peck kill each other. They shoot each other. They're dying. They begin a long crawl to one another.
Somewhere -- probably Carol Burnett's show -- I saw someone do a parody of that scene and that's all I knew of the film until Sunday. It's melodrama. There's nothing wrong with melodrama, it's a valid genre. But Peck was just too wooden for me to buy it, sorry.
