The film features Julia Roberts in a bad and hammy performance as the lukewarm evil queen. Roberts is like the high school cheerleader who wants to deliver a good line on stage but the rest of the time just sort of slouches her way through the performance. She's never as good as she thinks she is.
She is, however, better than Lily Collins. But then I think easily half the world could do better than Phil Collins' daughter in the lead role.
The only one who doesn't self-embarrass is Nathan Lane who goes through the film with an impish giggle that delights in the rare moments when the film works and that seems to suggest "I can't believe this s**t" either at all other times.
Meanwhile Julia wears one bad outfit after another and wears them all badly. There is this red dress that makes her look especially ridiculous.
A gold outfit may be even worse. They all appear to be the outer casing to unattractive sofas.
And Lily Collins has some ugly ass eye brows.
The thing is beyond boring.
Again, Nathan Lane's the only one who doesn't embarrass himself. (I don't know who played the Prince but he was awful. "Wooden" conveys more talent than he showed.)
