This year she's Lisa in Dysfunctional Friends (a film that also stars Jason Weaver and Tatyana Ali).
Over the weekend, on her Twitter feed, she endorsed Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential candidate.
And she's suffered one online attack after another.
“You’re an unemployed black woman endorsing Mitt Romney. You’re voting against yourself thrice. You poor beautiful idiot,” one Twitter user wrote, while @Black Voice wrote, “Stacey Dash had a perm since birth. I knew I couldn’t trust her.. lol.”
Others accused the actress of “voting for white supremacy,” claiming she “is white with a dark tan,” and calling Dash a slur of offensive names.
Several other Obama supporters even went as far as to encourage “the old hag” to “kill herself.” One suicide encourager is listed as a doctor and politically active Democrat in Washington D.C., and although he reportedly has deleted the inflammatory “kill yourself” tweet, it was captured by social media news site, Twitchy.com.
For any whiner that wants to say, "You quoted Fox!" Well I was going to quote Huffington Post which refers to race based attacks but they didn't really explore the attacks. The Examiner does a much better job of covering the story.
As a Black woman, I find the attacks on Stacey disgusting. As a Green Party member, I'd note that I don't spend my time online withing George Clooney or some other celebrity who has endorsed Barack would kill themselves.
I think people need to lower the rhetoric and remember that we're all free to endorse who we want to. Stacey Dash made her choice public. That's her right. If you disagree? Guess you have another reason now to vote. But leave the woman alone. She is entitled to vote for whom she wants and if she wants to share who she supports, that is her right to.
Stop the online bullying. It's disgusting and Barack Obama should be calling it out.
