Judy e-mailed to tell me I had forgotten Tell Me More. That's an NPR radio show. I was taking two months off after tracking the gender imbalance on Talk of the Nation and had said I would start with Tell Me More in November.
That would have been yesterday. I did listen. I was very disappointed.
The show is hosted by Michele Martin. You'd think that would mean women would stand a shot at equality. Thursday made it clear that would not happen. Friday made it even more clear.
Thursday on Tell Me More (NPR), the guests were Henry Gomez, Brian Bull, Suzanne McCabe and Anton Treuer. Friday, the guests were Julianne Malveauz, Marilyn Geewax, Rey Junco, Joseph Marshall III, Jim Izrael, Arsalan Iftikhar, Pablo Torre and Mario Loyola.
Can you believe that garbage?
If you've seen her, you should be aware that she's not conventionally pretty. She makes an attractive looking teenage boy by today's standards of beauty.
Possibly not being considered womanly or pretty has resulted in Michele Martin's refusal to book other women? Maybe, in life, the only way she could get attention from men (she is hetrosexual) was to be the only woman present so she recreates that on her own show?
I don't know. I don't care. I'm damn sick of women destroying opportunities for other women.
