I'm noting this TV coverage in the community (including my Whitney post):
Betty's "An analysis of NBC's Whitney," my "1 woman, 7 men and NBC's Whitney," Rebecca's "scandal 'happy birthday, mr. president'," Marcia's "Another fight between Whitney and Alex," Stan's "Arrow," Mike's "Fringe 'The Human Kind'," Rebecca's "revenge," Marcia's "How to spoil enthusiasm TV-style," Betty's "666 Park Avenue" and Stan's "The Good Wife"
Due to the season, not a lot of regular TV shows on this week but that gives you an indication of the shows we cover. Mike will be grabbing a new show by February. (Fringe goes off the air next month.)
I sometimes toy with the idea of grabbing another. I may based on the mid-season's new shows. I have been asked about the pregnancy.
Other than the cold (winter), nothing really to adjust to. The first weeks were awful but I seem to have adjusted now. Or my body may be about to surprise me again.
I was asked if I was doing natural or C-section. I would plan on natural as long as there was not any emergency. Meaning, if a C-section was needed, that's what I'd do but I'd prefer natural. That does not mean an at-home birth.
Good for you if that's your thing. Me? I can't imagine having a baby and also having a messy house.
My friend Jane had a homebirth. She got a kiddie pool and put it in her dining room (after moving the dining table and chairs out). She invited everyone. I went over for a brief moment. She was wearing a bikini top but otherwise naked and had made all the men go into another room. (She had wanted everyone in the dining room with her -- but not in the pool with her -- until the day of.) She was in the pool with her mid-wife Joan.
Joan kept getting out to go smoke a cigarette. I couldn't believe it. But it was a long birth so I guess "I was a nurse on a Grateful Dead tour" mid-wife Joan knew what she was doing.
The baby ended up healthy. Jane kept the placenta. She put it in the freezer (or Joan did, right after, on Jane's orders) and the plan was to put it around a tree in spring. That never happened. Three years after the birth, Jane finally tossed that out.
So, no, not planning a home birth.
This is C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
