Cedric, like me and everyone else in the community, is on Blogspot. He started out on Blogdrive because it was easier. That was in 2005. Then he moved over to Blogspot and used Blogdrive as his backup site.
Last Friday, his blog was deleted by Blogdrive.
This came after approximately two weeks of e-mails from Josh who claimed he was with Blogdrive. Josh called my husband the n-word repeatedly, the c-word (rhymes with "tune") and promised to burn a cross in our yard. (We live in an apartment, we don't have a yard, but thanks for the thought, Josh.)
My husband read these crazy e-mails and didn't take them seriously. If you blog, you get used to crazy e-mails.
Then, last Friday, he can't log in to his blog. And he can't even pull it up via Google. He can find it in the results page, but when he clicks on it, he's taken to an error page.
So my husband contacts Blogdrive and asks if they deleted his blog and why? He also asks if those e-mails from Josh were from Blogdrive?
I wrote some about this on Tuesday in "Back" and included this:
But he wrote Blogdrive on Friday when they deleted him. He noted the racism of the e-mails and gave them the chance to defend themselves or insist they didn't send those e-mails. They never replied -- despite their terms of agreement stating that if your account is nixed e-mail for the reason why. Cedric wants to give them another day to reply but they've had plenty of time.
Well guess who wrote back? My husband wrote them again on Wednesday (I just found that out today) and they finally wrote back. Who?
Probably. He wouldn't sign his name. But he did insult my husband repeatedly in the e-mail while insisting that Blogdrive never does that.
You know what? If I was Blogdrive and I got either or both of the e-mails my husband sent talking about the racist remarks made by someone named Josh who stated they worked for blogdrive and had blogdrive in their e-mail address, I would take a moment to ask, "What exactly did they say?"
But this man who doesn't sign his name doesn't bother to.
Strange, as C.I. points out, because if Blogdrive were her company, she actually would have asked, "Do you mind forwarding those e-mails to me?"
I agree with her. I would have asked questions about those e-mails and much more.
But the unsigned Blogdrive has no questions. But insists that no e-mails came from Blogdrive.
While he has no time to explore that, he does share his thoughts about racism which is, apparently, that it doesn't exist.
Cedric's pissed -- I don't blame him -- but asking everyone not to write about this until he hears back from Blogdrive. Everyone has to respect my husband's request.
That's one of the benefits of being married.
Blogdrive owes my husband an apology. And they damn well should have been concerned that racist e-mails were being sent out from a Blogdrive e-mail account.
That they weren't, that this man wouldn't sign his name, that he wanted to insult my husband repeatedly and then wanted to lecture about 'racism' (no big woop in his book apparently)?
That says to me that those racist e-mails were from Blogdrive and weren't some prank or anything else.
Blogdrive is racist and that is my conclusion now and until they prove otherwise.
I'm posting early because Cedric's busy right now and he'll try to stop me if he knows what I'm posting on. But as his wife, I have the right to defend my husband.
This is C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
