Today on the first hour of The Diane Rehm Show, the guests were John Harwood, Karen Tumulty and Jerry Seib. The second hour was David Ignatius, Yochi Dreazen and Nancy Youssef.
Should I be writing about someone I work with?
She doesn't read. Someone could tell her about my site but she's not going to go looking for it. She doesn't read. Doesn't read a newspaper, won't read books (had a fit one year when her Secret Santa got her a book), doesn't read.
The other attitude was expressed by Mia who e-mailed that she wished "every one of your posts was another chapter in 'Fatty Chronicles.' I think we all know someone like Fatty." Sadly, she's right.
I do have an update there. She announced today, in the hall when a group of us passed her on our way home (end of the day), that she had lost a pound.
In a week.
I'm sorry but she's drinking tea that gives her the runs and she goes to the gym every day after work (I don't know if she actually does anything in the gym) and she's a heavy woman (meaning 1 pound might be great for a woman weighing 145 but a woman supposedly working out for an hour each day who weighs over 200 pounds and is drinking tea to give herself the runs to lose weight should have lost more than a pound).
She says she was going to stop watching her calories and working out if she hadn't lost any weight. And I thought, "No, you said you'd stop watching your calories and working out if you didn't lose five pounds." That is what she said.
This is C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
